Alexander Rosenkranz is a visual artist and photographer. His practice explores architectural and urbanist spaces, questioning perception and spatial narratives within the built environment. His practice often begins with a photo-documentary approach that is expanded or entirely abandoned throughout the process.
His work has been exhibited internationally in institutions such as Images Vevey Biennial (CH), Photographische Sammlung SK Stiftung Kultur (Cologne, DE) and Haus am Kleistpark (Berlin, DE) among others. He has received several awards and grants, including the Atelier-Stipendium from Deutsche Bank (2023), the Grand Prix Images Vevey Nestlé Grant (2022), and an honorable mention for the Snider Prize at the Museum of Contemporary Photography Chicago (2021).
His works are part of public collections such as Haus am Kleistpark (Berlin), the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Magdeburg. Alongside his artistic practice, he has been engaged in teaching, lecturing at institutions such as the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig, the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, the University of Cologne and has led workshops and artist talks in Bucharest, Kathmandu, and at The University of New Mexico. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig, where he also completed a postgraduate master class (Meisterschüler) under Prof. Joachim Brohm.
