Over several years I observed the construction of the new Edvard Munch Museum at the Oslo fjord. At the same time the former Munch Museum from the 1960s in the residential area of Tøyen entered a phase of temporary reuse before its demolition. The coexistence of two buildings with the same institutional purpose but from different periods raised questions about how architecture reflects changing cultural values. The ongoing project examines how museum buildings materialize shifting ideas of art, public space, and representation.
